What's the story?

For years (as audiologists) we have tried to help with tinnitus using different management techniques. If you have tinnitus, you may have tried one or more of these techniques to try and reduce the tinnitus distress; not always successfully however hard we try. There is however a genuine level of excitement about a new device which has been available in the UK for a couple of years, and has recently had FDA approval in the USA.

What's on offer?

You are warmly invited to one of our sessions at Wilmslow Health Centre. There is free parking available, together with free access to the gym.  Most importantly are the three talks that will be given about tinnitus, how to manage it, and evidence based practice to treat it.  You will be able to chat with Tinnitus experts and gain valuable information about tinnitus from the day.

 

Everyone attending  will be able to have a video look inside their own ears (if desired), as we will be offering a complementary ear health check. 

 

In addition there will be some free tinnitus appointments which can be booked once you have bought your ticket.  Appointments prior to the first talk can be pre-booked, and after the talk on a first come first serve basis on the day. To secure your appointment we would recommend you book now.

Who will be presenting?

Peter Byrom has a Masters in Advanced Practice from University of Leeds, he has previously been a member of (the then) British Tinnitus Association Professional Advisory Committee and been a clinical lead within the NHS. He currently runs Sheffield based Peter Byrom Audiology and is active clinically.

 

Alan Hopkirk is Glasgow based and has been running a tinnitus support group there for many years. He has provided an excellent Tinnitus Retraining Therapy  service and is known nationally as a tinnitus expert.

 

Our special guest will be from Neuromod Ireland and will give an overview of the Lenire device and the research behind it.

Who  is it for, and can I bring my partner or friend?

The event is for any adult with tinnitus. You are encouraged to bring along a partner or friend.

How much is the event to attend?

To cover the costs of the day we are charging a £9.99 fee, but your friend or partner can come along for free.
