Hearing Test
Is listening becoming harder for you, too?
You’re not alone. 1 in 6 of the UK adult population is affected by hearing loss.
That’s nearly 12million people! And yet, many of them don’t even know it. Listening takes effort which gradually increases, until joining in conversations with family and friends just becomes exhausting...
If you’re finding it hard to hear people around you, or conversations are becoming an increasing struggle, it may be time to test your hearing, so you can continue to enjoy the quality of life you deserve.

Causes and Types of hearing loss
Hearing loss is usually caused by one or more of the following:
- Ageing
- Loud noises
- Infections
- Genetics
- Medications
These result in one of three types of hearing loss:
- Sensorineural Hearing Loss is the most common, accounting for around 90% of all cases and occurs when there has been damage to the inner ear or the auditory nerve.
- Conductive Hearing Loss is caused by a problem with the outer or middle ear and can often be treated with surgery or medication.
- Mixed Hearing Loss is a combination of sensorineural and conductive hearing loss which requires treatment tailored to the individual.
Hearing loss can often be treated successfully if it is detected early.
Research shows that people wait an average of seven years before booking a hearing test. That’s seven years of harder-to-hear conversations and seven years of increasing listening effort!
The loss of hearing can be gradual or sudden, and the emotional and psychological impact can vary from person to person. It can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to hold you back from living a happy and fulfilling life. Don’t let your hearing stop you from doing the things you love and spending time with the people you love!
By catching any potential issues early on, you can get the treatment you need such as ear wax removal or listening aids.
