Medico-Legal was put in place in order to reinforce Medico-Legal knowledge, the Medico-Legal Society was founded in 1901 and is home to a range of members. This includes lawyers and medical professionals, providing them with excellent networking opportunities. The Medico-Legal Society holds a range of monthly meetings in central London and they are hosted between October and June each year. Each meeting will include a well-qualified speaker who will present a paper that will then be followed by a discussion. The full Medico-Legal Society programme is available online, it can be viewed at any time. By being a part of the Medico-Legal Society, it provides a range of educational credits and benefits for a number of organisations, providing knowledge and adding value to their products and services. The official organ of the Society is the Medico-Legal Journal which is sent to all full members, this publishes the majority of the papers presented to the Society as well as original articles from around the world, including case reports and correspondence. The Society’s President will also serve for two years and is drawn alternately from the legal and medical professions.

Medico-Legal Audiograms and Reports

As a highly experienced Audiologist Peter has the ability to ensure that all audiograms and reports have been provided to the highest standards. As a consultant himself, he understands and appreciates how crucial it is to ensure that the right outcome is received, which is why he is a specialist Medico-Legal consultant. Peter will provide whatever level of testing that you require and ensure that it meets the correct criteria, he will then provide all necessary evidence to support the situation. The Audiogram will show when a client is suffering from industrial deafness and it has been caused by excessive exposure to noise, especially when considering the workplace. This type of hearing loss may be describeD as a Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). The Medico-Legal Journal

The Medico-Legal Journal was founded in 1931, it is published by Sage on behalf of the Medico-Legal Society. The paper version is published quarterly and posted to all full members and subscribers. The Medico-Legal Journal provides an official record of the papers presented by eminent speakers to the Medico-Legal Society as well as a unique collection of original articles, case reports, book reviews and correspondence from around the world. The Medico-Legal Journal has its entire archive, dating back to 1933 online and available for Society members. All issues are available at the Royal Society of Medicine library and most issues at the Inns of Court Library and Law Society Library.

The Medico-Legal Society

The Medico-Legal Society has provided a range of excellent education and information on matters medico-legal for over a century. Speakers at the Society meetings are of a consistently high standard and are invited with the aim of providing a range of topics covering civil and criminal law and all related aspects of forensic medicine. A convivial atmosphere at meetings provides an excellent forum for discussion between the professions. The Society’s journal, the Medico-Legal Journal, includes articles based on these and additional articles of interest.

Members can attend all meetings, which also qualify for continuing education credits under key professional bodies’ schemes. Membership includes the Medico-Legal Journal in paper and electronic form. Members can also attend a unique series of lectures, collecting continuing education credits.

More About Peter Byrom

Peter Byrom took the traditional route into Audiology through the BTEC Science and professional exams organised by the British Association of Audiology Technicians (BAAT) while training in NHS clinics at Barnsley, Sheffield Children’s and The Royal Hallamshire Hospitals in Sheffield.

Having gained a certificate in Audiology at Nottingham University, he then completed a Diploma in Healthcare and Bachelor of Healthcare Science degree (Audiology) at the university of Leeds before moving to Rotherham Foundation NHS Trust where he became the clinical lead for adult audiology services and completed an Master of Science in Advanced Practice, also at the University of Leeds. In November 2017 he left the NHS to run his private practice from Thornbury and Claremont Hospitals.

Had an appointment with Peter this morning as my consultant requested I had an hearing test as I have problems with my left ear which does make me feel a little dizzy. The service given by Peter was way above my expectations. He was polite, listened to my concerns and he carried out a comprehensive test. I saw Peter Byrom for earwax removal last week. I had been suffering from severe hearing loss, pressure, earache and discomfort after swimming. It was horrible and, not having experienced anything like this before, I was anxious. It was easy to book an appointment online for a few days later. On the day Peter was calming and reassuring. He showed me my totally blocked ears on a screen and explained how the wax had expanded with water. I had been using olive oil drops to soften the wax to help the removal process. Peter used microsuction to clear my ears and showed me my now clean eardrums. The improvement in my hearing and discomfort was immediate. My hearing seems as good now as I can ever remember it. I am so grateful and would recommend Peter to anyone with a similar problem.
