Why Tinnitus?
Tinnitus has been a big part of my audiology career over the years, from my time at Rotherham NHS where tinnitus was my specialist field, to my Masters in Advanced Practice where my research paper was focused on tinnitus and to the present where I have treated over 1000 patients.
You will probably know tinnitus as a ringing sound in the ears but it may surprise you to learn that much of the treatment is focused on relaxation techniques and cognitive behavioural therapy which I have had extensive training in.
With all that has gone on this year, I imagine that many who experience tinnitus may have found their symptoms have worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic and I expect I may also be seeing new patients who are experiencing it for the first time.
What’s going on?
With this in mind, I am delighted to be running an online relaxation session on Tuesday, October 6th 11:00 am – 11:45 am organised via The British Tinnitus Association which I have been a professional member of for many years.
The session is completely free and will be delivered via Zoom so you will need internet access. You won’t need a camera or microphone but there will be the chance to ask questions via the chat box.
Other than that, just make sure that you are comfortable and have a blanket with you to stay warm and cosy.
Please do share this with any friends or family who you think could benefit from this session, you can book your free place using the link below:

Further Information
If after the session you would like any further information then www.tinnitus.org.uk provides fantastic support as well as up-to-date information on their research and charity work.
My tinnitus clinic is run from Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield but home visits are also an option. Your first session includes a full audiological assessment to make sure there are no underlying conditions at play before we agree on a treatment plan and get you on the road to managing your tinnitus. You can get in touch via phone, email or the website.
I very much hope you sign up for the free relaxation event on October 6thand don’t forget to let friends and family know!
See you soon,
Peter
